Complete this application by June 16 to be considered.
College Readiness is recruiting interested high school students to participate in the Science and Technology Education Program (STEP) and Summer Writing and Theatre Program (SWTP)!
These summer programs offer students both academic and professional training and exposure to college and career-level work. Student may elect to participate in either STEP or SWTP, depending on their interests:
- STEP will focus on scientific and technological training, and include high level math and science classes such as chemistry and calculus.
- SWTP will feature writing and theater workshops, intended to help students develop university-level writing, their college admissions essay, and public speaking skills.
During the program, students attend college-level courses in the morning (9am - 1pm), and participate in an afternoon internship at a partner organization (2pm - 6pm). Students also participate in field trips and college tours on Fridays across the five boroughs and outside of New York City. This includes a week-long stay at Drew University, where each student is paired with a current undergraduate mentor, attends college courses, and stays in a campus dorm.
Both programs will run Monday through Friday from July 7th through August 15th.

Partnerships with College Readiness
We are looking for partnerships with New York City-based universities, businesses, and organizations. Our summer and school year programs expose students to a number of academic and occupational fields through workshops, internships, and mentorships in preparation of college and career success after high school.
To support our upcoming summer Science and Technology Education Program (STEP), we are seeking math- and science-based organizations interested in hosting student interns. STEP runs from July 7th through August 15th, and students would be available during the afternoons (approximately 2-6pm).
As well, we would like to invite colleges interested in partnering for our Summer Writing and Theatre Program (SWTP). Our staff would work collaboratively with the university and its scholars to provide students with writing and theatre workshops during the summer, to help prepare them for college-level writing, admissions essays, and public speaking.
Those interested in collaborating with either program, may contact:
Charmaine Massiah, Director of College Readiness
