Since 1957, the Union Settlement Federal Credit Union, a not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperative, has played an essential role in meeting East Harlem's economic needs, leveraging the community's economic resources for local business expansion and improvements. A national model for low-income community development, the Credit Union provides more than 4,100 members with access to low-cost checking and savings accounts, ATM access, financial advice and other services and has provided over $35 million in personal, home, business and educational loans.
