"As many of you know, I worked with the youth (young college students, in particular) of East Harlem for a year and a half. The spirit and the energy of the place are still alive and well in my heart - and I am still in touch with many of my former students. Though I have not previously been engaged in the programs of Union Settlement Association, I believe strongly in what they do - and I am confident that my marathon fundraising donations will be going to a good cause. The education system and the opportunity gap in this country are atrocious and these wraparound services are needed to support communities like East Harlem. Help support Union Settlement Associations efforts by donating to my 2012 ING New York City Marathon run. 100% of your donation will go directly to the essential programming that Union Settlement provides."
