Providing Hope and Opportunity

The mission of the Settlement College Readiness Program (SCRP) is to enable New York City students to gain access to higher education through a unique program of counseling, academic enrichment and internship opportunities.

Established in 1964, SCRP has assisted more than 17,050 students in its 41-year history. Over the years, 90 percent of participating students have been accepted to at least one institution and 20 percent have gone on to graduate school. Today, the program serves more than 1,380 students each year with the following programs:

  • Writing Workshops
  • Career and College Fairs
  • Computer Courses
  • Specialized High School Admission and Regents Test Prep Courses
  • Leadership Academy
  • Tolerance Training
  • College Trips
  • E-Mentoring
  • Academic Advising/Tutoring
  • Resource Library and Scholarship Database
  • Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP)
  • Summer Writing and Theater Program (SWTP)
  • Middle School Computer Tutorial (MSCT)
  • Individual Counseling
