Digitas Community Service Day a Colossal Success
Union Settlement would like to express its thanks to Digitas, which on Wednesday, July 14th shut down its midtown offices and sent 600 of its staff to our centers for a massive day of community service.
The volunteers engaged in a wide variety of projects, from painting entire childcare and senior centers, to sprucing up our two largest gardens, to painting nine colorful murals, and even entertaining our participants with a full day of outdoor activities. Cubbies were repainted, classrooms refurbished, beautiful perennials were planted, a teacher’s lounge was furnished, and much, much more.

The scale of projects completed by the Digitas volunteers in one day would have taken Union Settlement years to complete on our own. In addition to supplying all the materials needed for these improvements, Digitas contributed a new early childhood playground set, a new portable stage for our community room, and new external and internal signs to improve the visibility of our centers.
Behind the scenes of this complex operation were the project leaders from the Digitas staff, whose tireless planning efforts in the months leading up to the big day allowed it to be such a great success. We thank them for their dedication and passion.
