Make a difference!
Help us empower East Harlem! Our ongoing volunteers enable us to provide programs to the East Harlem community. If you are interested in being a part of something great, please fill out the Volunteer Application Form.
We also accept one-time volunteers throughout the year. If you have a specific date or time of year in mind, email firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll work with you to find a program or event you can donate your time to!

Corporate Volunteer Groups
Volunteering as a group gives employees in your organization the opportunity to interact with each other outside of work and meet employees from different departments, all while giving back to the community. For information on opportunities that are great for corporate volunteer groups, click here.
Volunteers can work in our garden, planting flowers or beautifying our playground; other volunteer groups have held job readiness workshops, others have coordinated and hosted parties for seniors at one of our four Senior Centers. For a full list of possible activities, please refer to the volunteer brochure. We also welcome your suggestions.
Interested in corporate or group volunteer opportunities? Please contact Kayla Duffy, Development Associate, at (646) 672-2597 or email@example.com.
In response to COVID-19, Union Settlement created a General Store, to help with food insecurity in East Harlem. Members of the community are able to come to the store three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) to shop for items such as shelf-stable food and toiletries, at no cost.
Volunteers can work between 9 AM and 1 PM on Tuesdays through Thursdays each week. Volunteers will assist with set-up and breakdown, check-in, as well as ensuring that participants socially distance themselves from one another. Spanish or Mandarin language skills are helpful, though not required.
Meals on Wheels
Volunteers with Meals on Wheels assist our program staff with packing hot and cold meals and preparing them for delivery in carriers. Teams of volunteers then go on established delivery routes to deliver meals to home-bound seniors who are often living on a limited income and alone in East Harlem. Volunteers may choose to participate in meal prep, meal deliveries, or both! Dates for work are every Monday-Thursday with meal packing from 8:30 AM to 10:30 PM and meal deliveries from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Youth Summer Camps
Volunteers can help our staff with camp activities, set up and clean up, clerical tasks, and more. Volunteers are expected to commit to volunteering at least one day a week over a 5-6 week period. Summer camp runs from July 6 – August 20, Monday-Friday. Available volunteer slots are 8 AM to 6 PM or 11:30 AM to 4 PM. In-person and virtual volunteer opportunities are available. All volunteers are required to pass a background check. Spanish language skills are a plus.
Interested volunteers and groups should contact Kayla Duffy at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Senior Center Workshops
Do you know how to sew, do yoga, or play an instrument? Why not share that knowledge at one of our four Senior Centers throughout East Harlem? Volunteer to hold an hour-long workshop any weekday at 9:30 am.
Don’t forget to complete your volunteer time sheet at the end of each month. If you have any questions while volunteering or need a Community Service letter, please contact us at email@example.com.
